The Art Sikh team had the opportunity to work alongsideLions MMA Willenhall sevadaars by delivering art workshops aimed at young people attending the Sikhi Camp at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, Willenhall on 25th & 27th July 2016.
The art workshop was very much based around the learning of what Gurbani is and its importance to everyday life. Individuals were asked to use acrylic paints to form backgrounds on small square canvases. Encouragement was given to the application of colour to form a mixture of tones and colours. Importance was placed on being mindful and in exploring and investigating colours that each young person associates with Waheguru, working in silence. To complete their canvases each person designed lettering and wrote Waheguru over their backgrounds.
Feedback from the young people and Lions MMA has been positive. We hope to take part in further workshops to help educate young people about various aspects of Sikhism.
