Skills: Poetry
Client: Harman Kaur

My name is Harman Kaur. Writing has been a passion of mine for the past 6 years, and it has been continued on through my poetry. My writing is mostly free verse and directed at a various variety of audiences. I write a lot about things that any person can relate to, but I also write about women empowerment, Punjabi culture, and Sikhism. Some of my well known pieces are the ones from the Maa Boli (Mother Tongue) series, in which words written in Gurmukhi are explored and explained. The purpose of my poems is to bring awareness about issues such as the problems Indian women face and to critique and comment on aspects of the Punjabi culture. The poems I write about Sikhism tend to explore love between a Sikh and Guru ji. Most of my inspiration comes from Gurbani and Sikh History. I feel like one of the things I can bring into the Sikhism world that is different is my comfort level with Punjabi and Gurmukhi.
